I get why people would give both those responses to someone who sounds like they don't understand the problem of wages being so low and prices so high that many people can't afford to spend hours on a hobby when they could be spending hours on an income stream

it's just that monetizing fanworks is an individualized bandaid over the problem at best and at worst it's a bunch more problems, which apparently people hear someone saying that as someone not understanding the problem of wages being so et cetera
